Innovations in Plastics Recycling: EREMA at K 2025

At this year’s K trade fair, EREMA once again proved its position as a technology leader in plastics recycling. The strong interest in our latest developments confirmed that our innovations are aligned with the needs of the market. Whether it was the new VOLEX technology that reduces VOC emissions by 40 percent, the expansion of EcoGentle® to polyolefins for more energy-efficient processing, or the breakthrough EREMA laser filter 812 that doubles the screen area for improved throughput – these examples illustrate the innovative strength that EREMA brought to the forefront at K 2025. Many of these highlights – and more – are featured in two short highlight videos from the EREMA Group’s presence at K 2025. We invite you to watch them (links at the end of this article).

“For us, the K trade fair is a benchmark: it shows whether we are meeting market needs. We succeeded – and that motivates us to continue driving innovative solutions, even under challenging conditions”, says Manfred Hackl, CEO of the EREMA Group.

VOLEX Technology: A leap in VOC reduction

One of the most talked-about innovations was the new VOLEX technology, which reduces volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by an impressive 40 percent in the final recycled pellets compared to an INTAREMA® TVEplus® standard degassing. This is achieved at a consistently high throughput without compromising on the mechanical properties of the final product.

EcoGentle® for polyolefins: expanding efficiency

Originally developed for PET, the EcoGentle® plastification technology is now also available for polyolefins. This expansion marks a significant step forward in energy-efficient processing. The gentle treatment of materials ensures better melt quality and lower energy consumption, making it a valuable solution for recyclers aiming to optimise performance, melt quality and sustainability.

New laser filter 812: doubling the screen area

Another breakthrough came in the field of filtration. EREMA’s new laser filter 812 doubles the screen area, significantly increasing throughput and reducing maintenance intervals. This innovation enhances operational efficiency and sets a new standard for high-performance recycling systems.

Further technological highlights

In addition to these top innovations, EREMA presented the new INTAREMA® 2021 TVEplus® system, now available without cascade. This streamlined design simplifies operation while maintaining the high performance users expect. Also showcased was PredictOn:Plastification, an intelligent assistance system that uses predictive analytics to improve machine availability and maintenance efficiency – an answer to the growing demand for smart, efficient recycling solutions.

Two further developments attracted attention for their specific application strengths: AGGLOREMA, a robust and energy-efficient system designed to process heavily contaminated post-consumer waste into high-density agglomerates, is now closing the gap between low-grade input materials and the feedstock requirements of chemical recycling. Meanwhile, TwinPro combines EREMA’s proven Preconditioning Unit (PCU) with a twin-screw extruder, enabling highly efficient homogenisation of complex, low bulk density film waste in a single step – ideal for multilayer materials and demanding recycling tasks.

Manfred Hackl, CEO of the EREMA Group

“K 2025 once again confirmed its status as the undisputed leading trade fair of the plastics industry. We had high-quality, in-depth discussions. Although visitor numbers were slightly below 2022, the quality of contacts was very high. The overall mood exceeded expectations. We closed several deals and received new project inquiries, albeit below the levels of 2022 and 2019. This reflects the pressure currently facing the recycling industry. Technologies that reduce OPEX and increase machine availability – such as intelligent assistance systems – were in high demand. The quickly available ReadyMac standard machine also attracted great interest. Live recycling in the outdoor area once again generated enthusiasm; visitors especially appreciated seeing the entire process chain in action with LINDNER Washtech.”

Live recycling: Circular Economy in action

The live recycling demonstrations in the outdoor area were once again a crowd-puller. Together with LINDNER Washtech, EREMA presented the entire process chain – from shredding to pelletising – offering visitors a tangible experience of the circular economy. The enthusiasm was palpable, and the hands-on format proved to be a powerful way to communicate the impact of advanced recycling technologies.

“For us, K is a benchmark: it shows whether we are meeting market needs. We succeeded – and that motivates us to continue driving innovative solutions, even under challenging conditions.”
