The two retail divisions of the Schwarz Group, Lidl and Kaufland, are rethinking their rolling and hand baskets: in future, hand baskets will be made of 75 per cent recycled material, rolling baskets of 80 per cent and XXL rolling baskets of 87 per cent. The existing shopping baskets will be replaced gradually in order to use remaining stocks of intact baskets for as long as possible and thus minimise the consumption of resources.
The recyclate used is post-consumer recyclate. This is made from used packaging from the yellow bag or yellow bin from private, predominantly German households.
EREMA customer PreZero produces regranulate
The plastic waste is collected, cleaned and processed into regranulate by PreZero. This results in new, high-quality and at the same time more environmentally friendly products. The entire recycling and manufacturing process is carried out in Europe and is particularly sustainable thanks to the short transport routes.
