Recycled sand toys

As part of the REset Plastic strategy, Schwarz Group companies are working on using more recycled plastic. A successful example of this is the high-quality recycled sand toys offered by the retailer Kaufland. EREMA customer PreZero is responsible for the disposal and recycling management as well as the subsequent production of regranulate from used plastic.

The recycling portfolio comprises a total of five different sand toys, including vehicles and various moulds, shovels and a sand mill. While the play vehicles consist of 80 per cent recycled and 20 per cent new granulate, all other products are made entirely* from recycled granulate (*colour content not from recycled material).

To produce the recycled pellets, PreZero collects plastic waste from private households and Kaufland shops, cleans it and then extrudes it. The new, high-quality and at the same time more environmentally friendly products are created from theses regranulates. The entire recycling and manufacturing process takes place in Europe and is therefore particularly sustainable thanks to the short transport routes.
