Blueocean Rpet Private Limited, a newly formed joint venture between the founders of Indian PET recycler Blueocean Group and the promoters of Sunder Food & Dairy, is investing in a new food-grade bottle-to-bottle recycling facility in Central India. At the heart of the project is EREMA's VACUREMA® technology.
The joint venture brings together two established businesses from the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Founded in 2015, Blueocean Group has built a PET recycling business that today processes around 60,000 tonnes of post-consumer PET bottles annually. The company employs more than 1,000 people and sources its input material through a collection and aggregation network spanning twelve Indian states. Its recycling operations have so far focused primarily on processing recycled PET for polyester staple fibre applications.
Blueocean Group was founded by Amit Gupta and Sumit Gupta. Sunder Food & Dairy is the company behind Sudhamrit, a household dairy brand in Madhya Pradesh and a leading supplier to major Indian FMCG companies. It is promoted by Kunal Singh Chauhan and Kartikey Singh Chauhan.
Together, Amit Gupta and Sumit Gupta of Blueocean Group and Kunal Singh Chauhan and Kartikey Singh Chauhan of Sunder Food & Dairy have established Blueocean Rpet Private Limited, a dedicated joint venture company that will build and operate the new food-grade bottle-to-bottle facility. The venture combines more than a decade of hands-on PET recycling experience with deep food industry and brand-compliance expertise.
The new greenfield facility is being built by Blueocean Rpet Private Limited in Tamot near Bhopal in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. In the first phase, it is designed to process 35,000 tonnes of post-consumer PET bottles annually and produce 25,000 tonnes of foodgrade rPET pellets for bottle-to-bottle applications.
The plant concept combines EREMA's VACUREMA® technology with solid-state polycondensation (SSP) from Polymetrix. Washing and sorting systems complete the recycling process. Construction of the facility was formally initiated with the Bhoomi Pujan groundbreaking ceremony in July 2026. The start of production is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
"Despite the availability of numerous bottle-to-bottle recycling solutions in India, EREMA stood out as the preferred choice due to its excellent pellet colour quality, energy-efficient operation and reliable plant uptime. These factors are essential as we expand into the production of food-grade rPET for bottle-to-bottle applications."

With the project, the joint venture is adding the first dedicated food-grade bottle-to-bottle rPET capacity in Central India. The investment comes as demand for recycled content in PET packaging continues to grow.
The joint venture builds on more than a decade of experience in processing post-consumer PET bottles. Having established its recycling operations primarily around fibre applications, Blueocean Group is now, through Blueocean Rpet Private Limited and together with its joint venture partners, extending into the production of food-grade rPET pellets for new PET bottles.
"The formation of Blueocean Rpet Private Limited and its entry into food-grade bottle-to-bottle recycling marks an important milestone, and reflects a broader trend among leading recyclers in India to move further up the value chain.”
